Editorial Standards & Content Policy

BharatSecure publishes public-safety advisories about online scams targeting Indian users. This page sets out the standards we follow when producing that content, how we handle named entities, and how to request a correction or removal.

What we publish, and what we don't

BharatSecure produces scam alerts and threat-intelligence advisories based on public reports, user submissions, and official advisories from regulators (RBI, CERT-In, I4C, state cyber-crime cells). We describe patterns of fraud so that ordinary internet users can recognise and avoid them.

We are not a court, and we do not declare anyone guilty of an offence. We describe the behaviour of unidentified scammers and the brands they impersonate. We do not publish accusations against named private individuals or named private companies unless those names appear in an official law-enforcement notice, a court order, or a public advisory from the impersonated brand themselves.

Sourcing & verification

AI-assisted production

Some of our advisories are drafted with the help of large language models from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Every draft is filtered through an automated guardrail layer that blocks publication of content containing unhedged accusations, raw personal data, or missing disclaimers. Drafts that fail those checks are quarantined and never reach the public site.

We disclose this so readers understand the production process. We do not present AI-assisted advisories as the personal opinion of any individual journalist.

Privacy & personal data

We mask personal identifiers in published content: phone numbers appear as 98XXXXXX12, UPI handles as us**@bank, account numbers as XXXX1234. We do not publish the names, addresses, or identifying details of individual victims. Where source material identifies victims, we anonymise before publication. Our processing of personal data follows the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Not legal, financial, or medical advice

The information on BharatSecure is published for general public-safety awareness. It is not legal advice, financial advice, or medical advice. Readers facing a specific case should consult a qualified professional and report cyber-crime to the national helpline 1930 or to cybercrime.gov.in.
